Table S1 describes yeast strains investigated in this study, focusing on the sequence at the HO locus. Table S2 lists connections between the topics of the lecture component of the outreach activity and Colorado State middle school curriculum. Figure S1 shows phylogenetic relationships between natural S. cerevisiae isolates based on HO gene sequence. Figure S2 provides data regarding species identification of the Texas prickly pear isolate. Figure S3 shows a phylogenetic tree of natural S. cerevisiae isolates based on ACT1 sequence.
